I want my Son, when encountering something that creates cognitive dissonance, to be able to identify that which is in conflict.
I want my Son to have the tools he needs to determine what information is necessary to formulate the questions required to gather it.
I want my Son to have the ability to judge the validity of the answers he receives and to determine whether they are sufficient for him to make a judgement.
I want my Son to be able to rationally and honestly weight the data and to make a judgement that is valid, right, and moral.
I want my Son, should he find himself wrong, to have the intellectual honesty to declare it, change his mind, and fully understand why he is doing so.
I want my Son, should he find himself right, to have the fortitude to hold to that judgement and the courage to be the only one.
My Wife and I will give my Son these tools and with them, he will become a good man.
